Final 5 Spots for our August 11-15 Dissection Lab!

May 16, 2026

We've decided to share something very special this week...a nine minute video segment featuring some spectacular imagery from our 2020 dissection lab in San Diego.

In this clip, Lauri Nemetz and I (with Lydia behind the camera) take a look inside the skull of one of our donors. These cranial views typically happen towards the end of our week-long anatomy and movement dissection labs, when we have a chance to explore the deepest recesses of our human anatomy.

It impossible to overstate the significance of the time I've spent in the lab when it comes to the work I do as a yoga educator, bodyworker and anatomy teacher.  Since my first dissection lab in 1997 with the amazing Gil Hedley, I continue to be inspired, humbled and deeply moved by the lessons learned from my fellow anatomists (Gil calls us Somanauts) and most of all from the generosity of our donors. As some of you may know, my own father was an anatomical donor after his passing in 2022, and I intend to be one as well.

Since teaming up with Lauri and Lydia in 2020 to form KNM Labs, we've had the privilege of working out of Gil's Colorado Springs Lab, the Institute for Anatomical Research.  Here's what Lydia has said about her work in the lab:

Since my first encounter with an anatomy lab, I have been thankful for the invaluable experience of examining human forms, recognizing the differences among them, and exploring firsthand the continuous connections along our surfaces and organs. This exposure has truly altered my perspective. I no longer look at myself or others and think, "that's a messed up body!" Instead, I appreciate all the ways our bodies can accommodate and adapt.

This leads me to express my deep gratitude for those individuals who donate their bodies for our education. In the lab we rent in Colorado Springs, we refer to the cooler where cadavers are stored as the "Teachers' Lounge," which I find delightful. When these individuals completed their lives, they chose to become our educators, and we honor and respect them not just during the week we study their bodies, but likely forever.

While human anatomy dissection may not be suitable for everyone, if you’ve ever thought about enhancing your movement practice, your teaching, or one-on-one therapeutic work, it could be a perfect fit for you. We only have space for five more students, so if you’re interested in joining us August 11-15, don't wait and sign up now.

Additionally, whenever you have the opportunity to gather with family and friends, consider discussing the possibility of them bequeathing their bodies for educational purposes. It's truly a gift like no other.

We have assembled a diverse group of students for our upcoming lab, and along with the dissection sessions and post-lab movement explorations, we are looking forward to enjoying the natural beauty of Colorado Springs in the summer. The lab is just minutes away from spectacular hiking trails in Garden of the Gods

Grab one of those last five spots and join us!
